Instead of trying to do 'all the things' what if you focused on that one thing that God uniquely designed you do to do and really pressed into it?
On today's episode, Alan has a great conversation with Jordan Raynor about his book Master of One: Find and Focus on the Work You Were Created to Do. Jordan shares his heart for deep work and what it looks like when we take the path of singularity and focus in on the work we were created to do, instead of trying to do all of the work.

Tuesday May 12, 2020
Tuesday May 12, 2020
How anxious are you right now? Do you know how to identify what makes you anxious?
Anxiety is spinning all around our culture right now. As we lead through the complex times we're having to identify and process our own anxiety while simultaneously helping those we lead process theirs. Leadership was complex before COVID-19, but it is really complex right now.
In this episode, Alan has a conversation with pastor and author, Steve Cuss. Steve was on the podcast back on episode 26 where he discussed his book Managing Leadership Anxiety.
Steve talks about practical ways of identifying and acknowledging our anxiety through physical cues in our bodies. He gives insight into some of our deeper sources of anxiety in leadership and how those can be compounded right now. Steve also offers a practical solution to managing our anxiety right now through a process of creating a life-giving list of things that bring us joy, connect us to God, and make us feel like a 'kid in the kingdom'.
Take time and sit with this one. slow it down, listen in pieces, let this conversation soak in. The message is timely, practical, and very applicable to our current season.

088 - John Eldredge ”You are experiencing trauma”
Tuesday Apr 21, 2020
Tuesday Apr 21, 2020
Everyone's lives have been changed because of COVID-19. Almost overnight we experienced a huge amount of change all at once that has been traumatizing for many people.
This is a very timely episode and we really encourage you to sit with this one, slow down and really take it in.
On today's episode, Alan sits down with author, teacher, counselor, and president of Ransomed Heart, John Eldredge. This is a very real and raw conversation about John's book Get Your Life Back: Everyday Practices for a World Gone Mad. John shares his burnout process and how he got through it.
About John
John earned his master's degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University, under the direction of Larry Crabb and Dan Allender. He worked as a counselor in private practice before launching Ransomed Heart in 2000. John and Stasi live in Colorado Springs with their three sons (Samuel, Blaine, and Luke), their golden retriever (Oban), and two horses (Whistle and Kokolo). While all of this is factually true, it somehow misses describing an actual person. He loves the outdoors passionately, and all beauty, Shakespeare, bow hunting, a good cigar, anything having to do with adventure, poetry, March Madness, working in the shop, fly fishing, classic rock, the Tetons, fish tacos, George MacDonald, green tea, buffalo steaks, dark chocolate, wild and open places, horses running, and too much more to name. He also uses the expression "far out" way too much.
