I believe you should have a chance to find deep and fruitful meaning in your life. I get it, I’ve lived a life of mess and confusion before. I knew a change had to happen which is why for the last # of years I’ve built pathways for others to find their own sense of meaning.

Here’s a morbid question; how many ideas are buried in your local graveyard?
Some of the best ideas, potentially life-changing ideas, die with people. Why? Fear kept them buried inside. Fear convinces us we should never start. It whispers to us, “Who are you to do THIS? What right do you have? Would anyone even care about this?” It paralyzes us into indecision and procrastination.
If you’re waiting for the perfect time or the perfect draft you’ll never start your big idea.

Leaders must create filters for what they let in and what they let out. This includes content we ingest, travel opportunities, tasks we accept and regular meetings.
The best way to get your life back is to revisit your priorities and make decisions based on them. You will disappoint people eventually, I recommend doing it proactively.
Good opportunities are everywhere, and are blocking you from amazing opportunities down the road.

You pop out of bed on Monday feeling frantic. You’re ten minutes behind because you hit snooze and the anxiety is pumping through your veins.
The week ahead is looming over you. You scroll through your emails, pop into Instagram and scramble to pick out your clothes. You pull the kids out of bed and race around the kitchen helping them pack their lunches. After all the chaos at home you get to the office ten minutes late.
You’re behind. Again.
Resource to consult
We designed the Right Side up Journal to help you make the shift from reactive life and leadership to proactive life and leadership. We created a short tutorial video and long tutorial video to help you best utilize this.
Questions to answer
What micro decisions can you look ahead and make proactively every day?
What larger decisions are approaching that you can make now?
What tool/s will help you plan ahead? (Of course, we recommend the Right Side up Journal, and this is exactly why we created it)

What do you do when you don’t know what to do?
The answer is a little different for all of us, but when we don’t know what to do most forward-thinking leaders just do something. Start something. Work on something. Read something. Get busy doing something. It seems our culture is completing wrapped up in busyness, and I believe much of that stems from a lack of clarity.
Activity is not the some as productivity. We need to figure out what the right things are. That is effectiveness; discerning and doing the right things. That is completely different from doing all the things. The efficiency of doing all the things without focusing on effectiveness to do the right things will only lead to overwhelm, burnout and futility.
I heard a quote many years ago that haunts me; Unsure of our direction we double our speed. While we all get paralysis from time to time many of us leaders have the bad habit of going faster when we don’t know where we’re doing. When we do this we are leading from insecurity. Eugene Peterson used to say, “A busy pastor is a lazy pastor”. I think that’s true for all of us. Much of our busyness is actually a fruit of our laziness to discern the right things and say no to everything else.
At least once a day I say this crucial phrase to an overwhelmed coaching client; clarity UP, overwhelm DOWN. Clarity and overwhelm have an inverse relationship. Imagine two sandbags stretched over a pulley. When clarity goes up overwhelm naturally goes down. The simple act of finding clarity has the ability to clear the fog of overwhelm. Overwhelm cripples our ability to make healthy decisions for us, our families, our teams and our organizations. Leave it too long and it festers into burnout, quitting or letting your life bring your along for the ride. Clarity is a game changer.
