Thursday Apr 07, 2022
On today's episode, Alan has a great conversation with pastor and leader Mark Johnston about disorientation and why it's part of our life and leadership journey.
About Mark
is the founder and lead pastor of The Journey. He and his wife Susie have two kids, Madeline and Conner. Fueled by a passion to reach unchurched people, Mark and Susie began The Journey in 2007, creating an engaging community of faith where people can experience the life-giving message of Jesus. In addition to his role at The Journey, Mark partners with the Association of Related Churches to coach pastors and leaders nationwide, providing insight on church growth, organizational structure, and leadership.
Outside of pouring his passion into ministry, Mark likes to ski, drive, play golf, and enjoys exploring new places with his family. Also, he once climbed a mountain. (If you get a chance, ask him about that – he’s always happy to describe it.)

Leaders are constantly pulled between tasks and people. This is normal. In fact, many definitions of leadership involve the idea of getting tasks done through people. This tension between tasks and people is one of the hardest tensions leaders live in, and I believe it’s gotten harder in recent years.
On today's episode, Alan digs into the tension of being accessible versus available and why it's so important for your life and leadership to understand the difference.

Have you ever considered the ease with which you can access information or connect with someone hundreds, even thousands of miles away? Technology is an amazing tool that affords us the ability to do some pretty incredible things.
The technology landscape is changing though, and whenever we experience change, a level of fear and uncertainty comes with it.
On today's episode, Alan sits down with Garrett Gerhart, who serves as communications pastor at Life Bible Fellowship Church in Upland California. Alan and Garrett have a great conversation about The MetaVerse, Technology, and the dangers and opportunities that come with them.

What got you into your current role? Charisma? Connections? Hard work? Competency? A head start? Brilliant ideas? Natural gifting? A great interview?
Something got you where you are, but it won’t get you where you want to go. It was helpful, but it won’t be sufficient.
